Check Oil and Drain Strainer
On the right side of the cowling an oil access door opens for checking the oil level and draining the fuel strainer. I believe I wipe more oil off the dipstick checking it than the engine uses per oil change. The dip stick is calibrated at 2 quart levels with the full indicating 6 quarts. I've put on an oil filter adapter so it now really holds a little more as some of the oil is held in the spin oil filter.
Fuel is drained from the strainer by pulling the little square knob shown in the right photo. Here fuel does spill on the ground but it isn't very much. The large box just below is contains the battery. Like any battery it needs check for fluid now and then but is not part of the preflight.
