Check Tank for Water
Carefully straightening up so I don't hit my head on the lowered flap I insert fuel test cup into the drain hole to get a sample of fuel. This drain hole is at bottom of the fuel tank. The top of the cup has a plastic rod that is inserted up into the drain to allows the cup to fill. This drain is just behind the left door just forward of the flaps.
The theory is that water and fuel will drain into the cup with the water settling to the bottom. The clear cup allows one to easily determine that there is water in the tank. Since 100 LL aviation fuel has a blue tint the correct fuel type can be determined.
The bottom of the sample cup a screwdriver is handy to tighten any loose screws.
